Our new house is unique. Very unique. This uniqueness can be endearing. But it can also be confusing.
Take our closets, for instance. The closet in my parents' room is normal. The other closets... not so much.
This is one of the closets in my little brother's room. The ceiling in this room is slanted, so the closet is tiny. My brother is over 6' tall. This closet is only about 4' tall. It should be interesting to see how he uses it.
This is the closet in my room.
I know what you are thinking. Are those stairs? In the closet? Where do they go to?
Absolutely nowhere. I have had a couple people suggest that the stairs may lead to a magical adventure, like in C.S. Lewis's books. But I spent an hour in there painting, and let me assure you, there is no magical world beyond my stairs. Simply a wall.
One of the most puzzling closets is in the basement. The basement of our house is unfinished and, frankly, not a place I want to spend a lot of time in. However, it contains our second "bathroom." There's this shower...
And this toilet...
In the closet...
When you are in this bathroom/closet, you can see out through the slots in the door, but other people can't see in. Which I think is a little bit creepy. But I guess it's not as creepy as the other way around.
Our house has a few odd features. But that's what makes it so special to us.
(These are all before pics. We will be moving in soon, and we will be posting after pics. )
I love water closets! Even more privacy… super nice in master bedrooms and the like.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I suppose better slats than being closed into a tiny room.
It is a little creepy to be in there going to the bathroom. You can see out, but no one can see in. It is the true definition of a water closet:} I will take it over only having one bathroom.
